On July 4th, 2025, the city of Shanghai became the vibrant stage for an extraordinary celebration of Italian excellence, international collaboration, and visionary creativity. 

The occasion commemorated three major achievements: the grand opening of Pininfarina's new China headquarter at Zhenru Oversea Center in Shanghai’s Putuo District; the 95th anniversary of the founding of Pininfarina in Italy; and the 15th anniversary of Pininfarina’s operations in China. 

More than just a ceremony, the event was a powerful statement of the brand’s long-standing relationship with China and its future forward vision for cross sector design leadership.

An Immersive Journey Through Iconic Design

The celebration offered an immersive journey into the world of Pininfarina. Guests were greeted with a visual and emotional showcase of some of the brand’s most iconic design creations, which seamlessly blended past achievements with forward looking concepts.

On display were masterpieces that defined the very essence of Italian design, the legendary Ferrari Testa Rossa, a symbol of automotive artistry and performance;

HiGold Wing premium furniture pieces, which exemplified the fusion of luxury and innovation; 

De Rosa bicycles, representing the pinnacle of Italian craftsmanship in mobility;

Otis Villa elevators, reflecting the brand’s impact on everyday lifestyle and infrastructure through design thinking and just to name a few.

These curated pieces did more than pay homage to the brand’s legacy they also served as tangible proof of Pininfarina’s evolution from an automotive design powerhouse into a multidisciplinary innovator spanning architecture, lifestyle, mobility, and industrial design.

A Triple Celebration: Pininfarina Anniversary

The event attracted a distinguished list of guests, including government representatives, business leaders, academic experts, and some of the most respected names in design and innovation. The opening ceremony featured a series of thought provoking speeches from high profile personalities who shared their insights on the importance of design in shaping sustainable futures and enhancing global collaboration.

Silvio Angori, CEO of Pininfarina, underscored the strategic importance of China in the company’s development, stating: “China holds a special place in our history and our future. Our mission here has always been about integrating Italian elegance and emotional resonance with cutting-edge technology and sustainable growth.”

Li Hanqing, General Manager of Pininfarina China, echoed this sentiment, adding: “In the past 15 years, we’ve completed nearly 500 projects with over 150 Chinese clients, helping them win international design awards and pushing the boundaries of innovation.”

Designer’s Night: Celebrating Creativity and Community

As the sun set, the day’s formalities transitioned into a more relaxed but equally inspiring Designer’s Night a signature social moment designed to celebrate creativity, community, and collaboration.

The evening was infused with Italian flair, beginning with an elegant aperitivo that featured a specially curated Italian menu, honoring the company’s heritage while creating a warm and convivial atmosphere. 

The night also featured a lively "Lucky Draw" game, where fortunate guests had the opportunity to win a curated selection of prestigious prizes, each carefully chosen to reflect the Pininfarina brand values of excellence, innovation, and lifestyle. Adding a special touch to the experience, the lucky draw was organized in partnership with Alcantara, whose presence was marked by Marco Marinelli, Chief Representative of Alcantara China. 

From premium design items to exclusive experiences, the prizes brought excitement and anticipation, turning the evening into a truly memorable celebration for all attendees.
