Hugging can give you a health boost

A study published in 2014 in Psychological Science, found that hugs may help boost health. Experts from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, have provided the conclusion that social support and frequent hugs seemed to predict “less-severe illness signs.” So, hugging more often is worth a short to avoid cold and flu symptoms. Science proves that regular hugs with those closest to you, even if brief, can have positive effects on your brain and body.

Family therapist Virginia Satir once said, “We need 4 hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth.” According to the best scientific research, we should have as many hugs as possible if we want to reap the greatest positive effects. Unfortunately, most people today are touch deprived, living solitary, busy lives with reduced social interaction and touching.
